About Oem

OEM International history

Since its foundation, OEM International has grown into an international industrial group through long-term commitment, entrepreneurship and technical expertise. Here you can explore our development over the years.

OEM International’s development

OEM International was founded in 1974 in Tranås, Sweden, with a clear ambition: to simplify everyday life for industrial customers. From the very beginning, the company’s business idea was to act as a technical and commercial link between leading European manufacturers and the Nordic industry. Technical expertise, close relationships, and a solution-oriented approach quickly became the foundation of the business.

In its early years, OEM built its operations around specialised product areas where knowledge and advisory services were just as important as the products themselves. Long-term thinking has always been central to the company’s philosophy – in partnerships with suppliers as well as in relationships with customers. This mindset has remained a guiding principle throughout OEM’s development.

Growth has been gradual and well-controlled. As customer needs evolved and markets expanded, OEM established operations in additional European countries. At the same time, the company retained a strong focus on local presence and entrepreneurship within each business unit. OEM’s decentralised business model has been a key factor in its success: each company operates close to its customers with significant local responsibility and decision-making authority, while benefiting from the strength, experience and stability of the group.

Over the years, OEM has broadened its offering and built an extensive portfolio across multiple technology areas. By combining deep technical expertise with accessibility and a strong understanding of customer applications, OEM has positioned itself as a long-term partner to the industrial sector rather than a traditional distributor.

Today, OEM is an established international technology trading group with operations in several European countries. Built on strong values, committed employees and long-standing supplier partnerships, OEM continues to develop together with its customers. The company’s history is defined by responsible growth, entrepreneurship and a constant ambition to improve how industrial solutions are developed, delivered and used – now and in the future.
